What is a smartshop?
A smartshop is an online shop or a stationary shop dedicated to the sale of psychoactive substances. In Europe you will mainly find smartshops in the Netherlands. Unlike most other countries, many natural psychoactive substances do not fall under the restrictions of drug or narcotics laws, but are classified as supplements. And what does the "smart" in the name mean?

The first coffee shop - the "Bulldog" - was opened in 1975 by Henk de Vries in Amsterdam. The Dutch drug policy proved to be very successful in the following decades.
