In order for the magic mushrooms to be able to optimally develop their effect, they need an environment that is as constant as possible. So make sure that the mushrooms grow at a temperature between 20 and 25 degrees. In addition, you should only work on the grow kit with clean hands. So you can be sure that the sensitive mycelia are not contaminated with bacteria. What you should also avoid: staying in direct sunlight, as this will dry out your mushrooms. They like it best when the humidity is high. Then they feel good and reward you with the best quality and effect.
After about three weeks, the time has finally come: You can harvest your first magic mushrooms. But here too, you can only achieve a high-quality harvest if your hands are clean. It is best to use latex gloves for one-time use when picking the mushrooms.
Because mushrooms are a natural product, they do not develop uniformly - some are already mature, while others still need some time to develop. Therefore, you can already pick the ripe mushrooms. If a specimen isn't fully grown yet but emerges from a mature stalk, you should harvest it as well. When picking, make sure that no spores end up on the unripe neighboring mushrooms. Their black powder comes off when the skin between the head and trunk is damaged. If other fungi are covered with the spores, they can no longer absorb light and stop growing.
But how do you pick the magic mushrooms correctly? Start by holding the bottom of the stem and gently twisting it until it detaches from the substrate. Avoid pulling out the mushroom to protect the mycelia and not endanger a later harvest. Cutting with a knife or scissors is also not recommended. There is a great danger that the mushrooms will be contaminated.
